You belong to a radio station and want an online archive for your programmes? You want to share these programs with others so that they are not broadcasted only once and then are forgotten. You want them to be easily accessible via podcasts? Then StreamOnTheFly is made for you.

How can I use StreamOnTheFly for my radio station?

It's easy!StreamOnTheFly offers you a system that lets you easily archive and publish your broadcasted programmes. All you need is a computer acting as a server and a permanent internet connection. Set up the StreamOnTheFly node software, contact one of the other node administrators to approve you for the network and you're already part of it.

StreamOnTheFly offers you a comprehensive interface to archive your content. You can upload your content (like your radio shows together with some images), add some metadata (e.g. who did the show and what it is about) and publish it. Since the nodes communicate with each other and the other nodes will recieve the metadata of your show, every other node on the network will know about your programmes. So if somebody performs a search for a program on a specific topic on a different node, he will still find your program, if the search matches. Of course, users can also just browse through your published programmes. If they find something interesting they can download it of subscribe to a podcast. This way, you not only have an archive for your programmes but also reach a much huger audience. People that might not even have heard of your station will find your programmes.

StreamOnTheFly makes it also very easy to integrate existing programmes into a website using RSS feeds. You can customize the content the feed delivers manually or define certain assortement criteria to choose from the programmes automatically. This way it becomes pretty easy to create a portal that, for instance, only displays the programmes of your radio stations. On the other hand you can be very flexible and create a thematic portal that displays programmes to a certain topic only. For a user, it easy to create his own playlist that applies to his taste.
